CHANCELLOR'S CERTIFICATE OF MERIT AWARD
The Chancellor's Certificate of Merit Award was established in 1983 to honor individuals who have distinguished themselves in their professions and/or have made significant contributions to the university. Organizations are also eligible for nomination. The award is presented annually by the Chancellor at the Founders Day Convocation and all nominees must be present to receive the award. The award may also be presented at Fall Convocation or Commencement if deemed appropriate by the Chancellor. No more than five (5) certificates should be awarded in a single year unless stipulated by the Chancellor. Honorees receive a specially designed 17" x 22" framed certificate and honorable mention in the program. The certificate bears the name of the recipient, reason for recognition and the signature of the Chancellor along with the seal affixed thereto.
Candidates may or may not be graduates of Fayetteville State University. The candidate with the greatest likelihood for success will be one whose nomination demonstrates that he or she has contributed to public appreciation of the university and to the annual fund or capital campaign to the best of his or her ability.
Members of the Board of Trustees, faculty, alumni, administrators and friends of the university may submit the names of distinguished individuals or organizations, accompanied by a portfolio of credentials, for consideration. The portfolio must include the completed nomination form, letter(s), of endorsement, resume and black and white photograph of the candidate. A committee, appointed by the Chancellor, will assist in the screening of nominees. Honorees selected for the award will be notified at least 30 days prior to Founders Day or the designated university event.
