FSU Retirees Club Holds First Fund-Raiser -- Pictures are here!
The Fayetteville State University Retirees Club held its first Annual Grandparents Baby Contest on May 23, 2004, in the Shaw Auditorium. Four participants vied for the crown of “Little Miss Retirees Club 2004.”
The Master of Ceremony was long-time radio personality, William “Big Bad Bill” Hennessee. The audience was entertained by the Cliffdale Senior Praise Dancers, Fayetteville Senior Ensemble under the direction of “Mama Teen” Smith, Mrs. Sharon McNair, Mr. & Mrs. Jason Farrar, soloists from Chapel Hill, NC, and Ms. Chelsehi Carr, Story Teller.
The highlight of the afternoon was the crowning of Jasmyne Farrar as Little Miss Retirees Club 2004. Jasmyne is the granddaughter of Mrs. Evelyn Washington. First runner-up was Mya Elise Hennessee, granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Bill Hennessee; Second runner-up Leah Joy Ellen Jackson, granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. D. Marshall; and Third runner-up Nichole J. Gillard, granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Al Alston. Little Miss Alleyah J’Kayle Michaux serenaded the contestants with a beautiful solo. Over $7,000 was raised for scholarships for FSU students.
President of the FSU Retirees Club is Mr. William “Pete” Freeman. The Club meets the third Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. on the campus of Fayetteville State University and is open to other state retirees as well as FSU Retirees.
